NABAEK (South Korea, b. 1982) is an artist who attracted attention for having presented briquette(coal) art during his master's degree (drawing major) at Hongik University College of Art. He expresses abstract images of love and memories on canvas. Through his work, he aims to convey the richness and complexity of memories, using contrasting black and white iridescent colours to symbolize the warmth and comfort of home during the Korean winter. The artist who struggled emotionally in the past, also explores the interplay of love, trust and recovery, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences and relationships, and encourages positivity in life.
Nabaek has over 20 years of experience in Korean web design and is an experienced artist in various fields such as architectural design, design participation, and interior design. He is a promising artist who actively works in Korea as a briquette (coal) artist. He had his first solo exhibition in Tsushima, Japan in 2023, and was also featured in a video interview with KEPCO in 2023, participated in Japans’s AFAF (Art Fair Asia Fukuoka in 2023, and Taiwan’s WHATZ Art Fair in 2024, and Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong and MOCAF in BGC, Philippines in 2025.
