IRENE HAAGEN (Philippines, b. 1969) is a nurse by profession who studied painting when she moved to Hong Kong. She uses acrylic and oil mediums to create works with vibrant colours and textures. Her early works were on themes of nature and women. Currently, she prefers to paint themes of daily life in the rapidly changing city life, and is mainly associated with Hong Kong, painting her home for more than 20 years.
Haagen participated in various group exhibitions in Hong Kong and has taught painting mostly to expatriate children, primarily as an after-school activity. She is a member of the “Hong Kong Super Fans,” a global program organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board which invites people from all over the world who share a strong passion for Hong Kong to share their experiences in Hong Kong, and promote Hong Kong tourism.
