DENNIS FRANCISCO (b. 1981, Philippines) graduated from Navotas Polytechnic University in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration (majoring in Management). Influenced by his uncle, who was part of the Mabini Artists Group, he developed a passion for drawing since elementary school. He continued drawing and painting throughout college, and even when he landed different jobs at Banco de Oro (BDO), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Philippine Deposit Insurance Company (PDIC). Later, he joined visual artists’ group which gave him time to delve deeper into art, and in 2012 he decided to become a full-time artist.
Francisco’s unique style revolves around the interplay of lines, shapes, and rhythmic patterns. His work often features a harmonious fusion of abstract forms with geometric precision, reflecting a profound understanding of balance and symmetry. Using line as the primary medium allows him to convey architectural and cultural ideas through simple yet peaceful compositions.
He has embraced the legacy of masters Arturo Luz and Romulo Olazo. While inspired by Luz’s minimalist aesthetics and Olazo’s exploration of colors, he has developed his own unique style. Francisco believes in the power of simplicity and rhythm to evoke emotion and transcend cultural boundaries. He has participated in several local art competitions and exhibited his work in various galleries in the Philippines, and overseas. He is keen to learn more so that he can improve his personal artistic journey.
