VALERIE TENG (b. 1977, Ilocos Norte, Philippines) earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts degree, major in Advertising from the College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, Manila in 1999. A Filipino-Chinese, she has been passionate about art since childhood, and her work captures nostalgia and everyday stories. Throughout her college years, she nurtured this passion, further honing her skills and creativity. Teng’s artistic journey didn’t end there. After working for several companies, she transitioned from a corporate career to a successful creative endeavor, constantly finding ways to express her artistic talents.
One of the unique aspects of Teng’s work is her deep fascination of feng shui, particularly the lucky cat, or Maneki Neko. This provides much inspiration for her art. Her main character, Lucky Meow, embodies the charm and allure of this traditional figure, known for bringing good luck and prosperity. Beyond Lucky Meow, she has created a variety of supporting characters, each contributing to the whimsical and fortunate world she portrays in her artwork.
Teng has held five solo exhibitions and is actively joining exhibitions both domestically and internationally. She has participated in exhibitions in various countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and her work has been featured in various newspapers and online platforms.
