MARZO TO (Hong Kong, b. 1962) is an artist with an outstanding education and career, graduating from École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and further studying at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. His international perspective was enriched by a selective exchange program at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1990, and an artist residency in Egypt in 1992, which broadened her cultural and artistic horizons.
His evolving style has been showcased in UK in 2013, and in Hong Kong in 2014. Between 2015-2017, To completed an artist residency in Shenzen in 2017, exhibited together with regional art networks at Pearl Delta Bay in 2017, and participated in the TNT International Artist-in-Residence in an industrial site in Shenzen in 2018. He also took part in the artist residency “Officina” program in Berlin, Germany in 2019.
In 2020, he also embarked on a self-funded artist residency program in Chiang Mai, Thailand, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 lockdown. He focused on studying elephant morphology through ink art and large scale oil paintings. In 2022, he met with LGBTQ+ group at the Chiang Mai artist village, which inspired his non-binary and transgender AI project.
In 2023, To returned to Hong Kong and continued to pursue his artistic pursuits, establishing a painting and sculpture workshop in Shenzen. In 2024, he resumed his oil painting and began archaeological and Chinese oracle project. In 2025, he launched a sculptural semiotics project inspired by the Bauhaus and ancient alphabets, solidifying his legacy as a visionary artist of global stature.
