MYLENE QUITO'S (Philippines, b. 1986) inherent talent and creativity launched an artistic career as a self-taught artist holding the audience captive with the sheer emotive power of her oeuvres. Les Belle Fleur series is evidence of Quito’s mastery of patterns and the dance between sharp lines and billows, and her layering just like propagation of plants signifies that growth is life. She draws inspiration from her mother who worked as a part-time seamstress overseas and has motivated her to persevere in life. She has combined her paintings with her childhood experience into a complex and playful collage. Calla lilies, rose, tulips, poppies, and sunflowers are representations of the sacredness of the transmutation of personal tribulations that are unheard of by most.

Her art practice includes a mentorship program involving children from an underprivileged community where she taught them to believe that what they conceive in their mind can be achieved through perseverance and hard work. As a guiding principle, this led her to achieve her goal of exhibiting her art in the Philippines and overseas. Under her belt are these international group art exhibitions: In 2021, she exhibited in Libya, Panama, South Korea, India and Morocco. From 2019 and 2020, she also participated in exhibitions in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, China and South Korea. For Quito, her dream is to be able to explore more possibilities of exhibiting in various international art fairs, aside from joining other local events.
