KOSCOS (Sri Lanka, b. 1974) was born into an artistic family and began drawing and painting at an early age. After school, his playground was his father’s agency workshop, where he studied and practiced brush skills in the golden age of hand-drawn advertising. In 1999, he moved to Hong Kong, where he has worked in a creative capacity in the film, advertising, and digital advertising industries.
Koscos paints in loud and dominant styles, using cheap brushes to apply dripping oils in crude fast brush strokes, experimenting with combinations of acrylics and charcoal, tropical colour pallets carried to the extreme. From the inspiration he draws on to his choice of subject matter and the materials he uses. Cos’ work is a celebration of diversity in every sense.
He has done several solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and the UK, and has participated at Asian Contemporary Art Show (ACAS) in Singapore and Hong Kong.
