LOUIE IGNACIO (Philippines, b. 1965) is a visual artist and an award-winning director. Despite years working in television and films, he has found time to nurture his creativity in painting. Through abstraction, Ignacio diligently shaped his body of work in the steady mastery of technique and medium. As a painter, he attempts to translate music for the eye. He invites viewers to reflect on their interaction with the canvas while making them hear something through his visuals. At every turn, he captures rhythm, relay, and cadence on the canvas surface, ably depicting movement with a perspectival effect and emotional resonance. His grand yet subtle work can pulsate uncannily, throbbing and flickering with colours in exuberant excess of vividness and flow.
“Deep Expression" series, of which the initial work he painted was also made into a short film, is a stark contrast to the depressive, discouraging and suffocating atmosphere during the pandemic. The paintings in this series are full of vigour, tenacity and full of happiness. As a painter, he attempts to translate music for the eye.
