CHONGLING DONG (b. 1982, Urumqi, China) is a traveler. She spent her childhood in the mountainous regions of western China and the French Alps. After earning her bachelor's and master's degrees in organic chemistry from the University of Grenoble Alpes in France in 2010, she moved to Hong Kong, where she developed a deep love for the perfumery. Whenever time permits, she enjoys illustrating children's books and expressing herself through drawing and painting. In 2021, she decided to pursue her passion for art. After studying at Insight Interior Design School in Hong Kong, she became an interior designer.
Dong began her creative journey in 2014 with Hong Kong artist Leon Lollipop. She was fascinated by people, inspired by their culture and creations, and channeled her love of culture into her paintings. In 2019, she began creating the Gourmet City collection. She believes that when people approach a place, their first impression is always based on its local food and transportation. She decided to explore these two elements in a playful way, and thus the Gourmet City collection was born. This collection encompasses several countries and cities, including Hong Kong, France, Turkey, Macau, and Singapore, and will continue to grow in the future.
She has held numerous solo exhibitions, and her work has been exhibited at venues such as the France May Art Festival, the Hong Kong Affordable Art Fair, and the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Exhibition. Her original oil paintings and art prints are collected by collectors worldwide.
