ZUE CHAN (Hong Kong, b. 1995) holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) in Stage Direction and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Entertainment Arts from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). In 2016, Chan further developed her modern ink painting techniques under Lien Jui-Fen, and in 2020, she received a diploma in Ink Painting from the Chinese University of Hong Kong's School of Continuing Education.

Her early works "Unconstrained" series utilize traditional Chinese painting techniques to depict the textures of mountains and rocks, while Western oil painting techniques like wiping to create the layers of a sea of clouds. Through the comfort of the mountains and the gentle rolling clouds, the artist creates a peaceful and tranquil space, escaping from reality, establishing her unique creative style.

Chan enjoys combining Chinese brushwork with Western painting techniques. Her work maintains the hallmarks of traditional Chinese painting, such as extensive perspective and texture, while simultaneously breaking down the barriers between materials by blending Chinese and Western pigments within a single work. She maintains the beauty of traditional techniques while expressing them in a unique way. Her paintings convey a beautiful message: all things in the world can coexist peacefully, a perfect balance achieved by the harmony of the universe.
The theme of Chan's paintings mostly feature landscapes. Nature holds a special place in her heart. It represents the flow of energy, the breath of life, and a positive magnetic field of mindfulness that helps renew the mind. Mountains and fields, in particular, exude a sense of peace and stability. They possess an energy that gently soothes the hustle and bustle of the city.
